Terms of Service
The terms, conditions and liability waivers outlined in this document are meant to provide our clients with as much information as possible for their protection, as well as the protection of Harmony Movers. Each service is unique, and it is not possible to outline every scenario that may arise. If you have any specific questions about your service, please discuss with your moving advisor or call our office for clarification.
1 Minimum Hours
⏳ Mandatory 3-Hour Minimum
It covers the basic labour needed to load and unload, plus the essential travel to and from our operations center. Moreover, we adhere to the Act Respecting Labour Standards, specifically section 58, which states that an employee who reports for work at their employer’s request must be paid for at least 3 consecutive hours at the prevailing hourly rate (unless force majeure applies). Consequently, our billing structure for local moves requires a minimum of 3 hours of labour, even if the actual labour is under 3 hours.
⏳ What If the Move Takes Longer?
Once the 3-hour minimum is met, any additional hours are billed in accordance with our standard hourly rate plus any extra charges outlined in the contract.
📉 Potential Variations
Actual costs may vary based on the number of movers, additional services, and factors such as regional differences or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., traffic delays).
2 Hourly Rate
🔄Labour Hours: Time actively spent loading, driving with the truck loaded, and unloading. Billing for labour starts the moment our movers arrive at your origin address and ends after our movers have completely unloaded the truck and you’ve performed a final inspection at the destination.
🚛Transport (Travel) Time: A separate charge, typically a flat rate or as per your contract. This covers the truck traveling empty from our operations center to your first address and back once the move is finished.
Includes Labour: The work performed by our movers (loading, transporting, unloading).
Basic Equipment: Standard dollies, moving blankets, straps, and similar necessary tools.
Basic Protective Materials: Standard padding or protective wraps used to safeguard items during transit.
📦Packing Services: Labour for wrapping or boxing your items.
📦Packing Materials: Boxes, tape, bubble wrap or any other consumables.
📦Unboxing: Removal of items from boxes at the destination.
3 Heavy & Specialized Item Transport

4 Administrative Fee, Cancellations & Rescheduling
5 Rescheduling
We will do our best to accommodate a new date, subject to availability. If the preferred date is not open, we propose the nearest possible option.
6 No Unauthorized Services
Clients must refrain from asking our movers to perform additional services (e.g., plumbing, electrical work) without first contacting our office at 514-866-5550. Please be advised that failure to fulfil any contractual obligation may be considered a breach of contract, potentially affecting your liability insurance and our ability to serve you.
7 Payment
Payment is due upon completion of the move. Acceptable payment methods are credit card, direct debit, certified cheques, e-transfer, cash. Personal cheques are not allowed.
8 High-Value & Fragile Items
9 Refrigerators & Freezers
10 Appliances (Water & Gas Lines)
🚫 We do not handle the (dis)connection of plumbing or gas lines; this is the customer’s responsibility.
11 Water Shutoff Valves
⚠️Ensuring water/gas lines are disconnected or turned off is the client’s duty. We do not assume liability for related leaks/damages
12 Firearm Safes
We can move gun safes weighing up to 1,500 lbs for an additional fee. If not declared beforehand, we reserve the right to refuse or require a waiver of liability. Moreover, we do not transport firearms or ammunition. All safes must be emptied of these items prior to moving.
13 Pool Tables
If the felt is worn or damaged, replacement may be required.
14 Grandfather Clocks
Unless you opt for our packing services, removing the pendulum and securing internal components is your responsibility.
We recommend a professional check or tune-up after delivery. We are not responsible for internal mechanical performance, unless due to our proven negligence.
15 Flat-Screen & High-Tech TVs (QLED, OLED, Plasma and Similar Technologies)
All TVs must be transported in protective boxes, either provided by the customer or supplied by us for an additional fee.
🚫No Unboxed Transport
We will not move TVs without any box. We ask that clients do not request our movers to proceed unboxed. If a client insists and the mover proceeds without our written consent, any damage incurred will be the client’s sole responsibility.
16 Electronics
Unless you’ve purchased packing services, please disconnect/pack cords and cables for computers, TVs, etc.
We do not guarantee post-move functionality of electronics unless damage is caused by a demonstrable mover error (e.g., dropping).
17 Furniture Drawers & Contents
We recommend emptying all drawers, especially heavier/bulky items. Light clothing in small dressers may be left in place.
We assume no liability for items left in drawers or for overloading damage unless caused by clear negligence on our part.
18 Retention of goods
If full payment is not remitted, Harmony Movers reserves the right to lawfully retain goods pending full settlement, in accordance with Québec civil law.
19 Goods inspection
We reserve the right to inspect items prior to loading and refuse transport if we determine any health, safety, or contamination risk (e.g., bedbugs, severe infestation).
🚫 If a client refuses the inspection process, we may decline to move those articles.
⚠️Disclosure & Additional Fees
Clients must inform us in advance of any known infestation or contamination.
If we discover bedbugs or other infestations that were not disclosed, we may assess a cleaning or disinfection fee.
In such instances, we may still bill the mandatory 3-hour minimum in addition to any cleaning or disinfection fees, even if the move is cancelled or partially completed due to the discovered condition.
20 Assembly Service
21 Claims & Notifications
Each claim - timely or otherwise -will be assessed in line with Québec law and your chosen coverage (e.g., Basic or Premium). Proven negligence by our movers is still covered, subject to the limits and conditions set out in these Terms & Conditions and applicable regulations.
22 Limitations of Liability
-
🚫Exclusion for Non-Negligence: We are not liable for damage resulting from inherent weaknesses or defects in items, or from inadequate or improper packing by the client (or anyone other than our professional packing service). If you choose not to use our packing services, you assume responsibility for ensuring your items are packed securely.
-
⚠️However, if damage stems directly from our movers’ fault or negligence, we remain responsible per your chosen coverage.
23 Pianos
Post-move piano 🎵tuning/inspection by a professional is recommended.
24 Heavy Items (200lbs+)
Items weighing 200 lbs or more (e.g., pianos, safes) generally require an advance assessment. Additional fees may apply for specialized equipment, extra movers, or non-standard handling arrangements.
⚠️Risky or Unreasonable Requests
If a client requests a particular path or method that we determine could damage walls, floors, or the item itself, we will inform the client of these risks.
📝 Written Authorization (Liability Acceptance)
If we agree to proceed against our recommendation, we will issue written authorization (via email or text from our main line). By providing written authorization, we assume liability only to the extent of the coverage selected by the client (e.g., Basic or Enhanced) and in accordance with applicable civil liability laws.
🚫No Written Authorization (No Liability)
If no written authorization is granted, or if the client proceeds despite our refusal, we disclaim all liability for any resulting damage.
🛑Refusal of Service
If, due to the severity of risk, we are unwilling to provide written authorization, we reserve the right to refuse that specific request or the entire move.
25 Pressboard & Particleboard Furniture
Pressboard or particleboard furniture is inherently prone to structural weakness (e.g., splitting or collapsing). While we handle these items with care, we cannot guarantee their integrity and therefore disclaim liability for damage stemming solely from inherent fragility. However, if there is clear evidence of direct mover negligence (such as a major impact), the damage will be addressed in accordance with the coverage selected.
26 Traffic & Road Delays
Extra time incurred from traffic, road closures, or other uncontrollable factors is chargeable. We cannot guarantee no delays due to external conditions.
27 Property Access
Client must ensure legal access to all locations (origin/destination). For multi-story buildings, the client must reserve elevators if needed.
28 Outdoor Risks
If a client instructs our truck to drive on a potentially unsuitable surface (lawns, narrow sidewalks, etc.), Harmony Movers is not liable for landscaping or structural damage, unless it clearly results from a direct mover error absent the client’s instruction.
29 Gas-Powered Tools & Equipment
All fuel and oil must be fully drained prior to loading. Flammable or corrosive substances are strictly prohibited; we refuse to transport them under any circumstances. If a client fails to disclose the presence of these substances, we void any liability coverage for damages, reserve the right to refuse service, and may pursue legal remedies. The client is fully responsible for all costs or claims arising from undisclosed hazards.
30 Plants, Flowerpots, Planters, and Barrels
💧Water & Soil Preparation
Plants: We can transport plants that have been drained of water for at least 72 hours before the move.
Containers: Removing or reducing soil is highly recommended to minimize weight and reduce the risk of breakage.
⚠️No Condition Guarantee
While we handle plants and planters with care, we cannot guarantee their condition upon arrival. Any special care required beyond standard handling should be arranged in advance.
We are not liable for damage resulting from inherent cracks or overweight containers, unless there is clear mover negligence.
31 Stone, Marble, Concrete, and Fragile Materials
Marble, granite, ceramic, terracotta, etc., may have unseen internal cracks. We cannot be held liable for breakage caused by these weaknesses, except in cases of mover negligence.
32 Wall Fixtures & Accessories
If you prefer not to have us remove these items, please ensure they are taken down before our crew arrives. Any specialized removal (e.g., custom fixtures) should be arranged in advance.
33 Electrical & Plumbing Disconnects
We cannot remove or install fixtures that require electrical or plumbing work (e.g., light fixtures, faucets, washing machines).
If you need help with such items, please contact📞 our office at least 72 hours before the move. We can arrange a qualified third-party professional to handle the disconnect or removal.
If you opt not to use our recommended third-party partner, you must secure a licensed professional to handle any electrical or plumbing work before the movers arrive.
34 Aquariums & Animal Enclosures
We only move empty aquariums or terrariums. Large or fragile enclosures may require special crating. We do not transport live animals.
35 Verification Policy (Walk-Through)
Our lead mover conducts multiple checks during loading and unloading. However, it is ultimately the customer’s responsibility to confirm that no items are left behind at the origin or overlooked in the truck upon arrival at the destination. We recommend performing a final walk-through before the movers depart to ensure nothing is missed.
36 Inventory
We generally do not complete a detailed inventory. You are welcome to request one for an additional hourly fee.
37 Safety
Our movers may refuse any task they deem unsafe, unreasonable, or likely to damage your property, the truck, or endanger personal safety. If a client conceals or fails to disclose known safety hazards to our office or movers, we reserve the right to charge the minimum labour hours plus the planned transport hours outlined in the contract and decline or discontinue the move.
38 Client Transport
We are not obligated to transport the client in our vehicles. The client should arrange personal transportation. If a multi-passenger vehicle is available, we may extend it as a courtesy only, without guarantee.
